Men's Golf Equipment 2023

Stix offers an excellent complete set of golf clubs for newcomers that provides forgiveness, consistency and distance - including a driver, 3 wood, 4 and 5 hybrids, 6 to 9 irons, putter and stand bag.

2023's fairway woods boasting hybrid face balanced and toe hang designs to maximize center of gravity (CG) and MOI are some of the most forgiving models we have seen recently.

Cleveland RTX 6 ZipCore Wedge

The RTX 6 ZipCore Wedge is the latest wedge from an experienced maker of short clubs. Boasting a classic address look that does not disguise its modern technologies such as HydraZip milling to generate more spin and UltiZip grooves designed to better cut through rough or sand conditions, this club delivers on performance as well as style.

Cleveland boasts of their improved milling on this wedge as an upgrade over their prior RTX model, featuring a darker, more uniform pattern for enhanced appearance and performance. Their claim is that this creates a stronger cutting edge with greater spin regardless of conditions or environmental influences.

It also helps the wedge's center of gravity remain closer to the ball, providing more forgiving off-center shots. This wedge is perfect for mid-to-high handicappers as well as low handicappers looking for variety around the greens.

Cleveland RTX 6 wedge is unique among their lineup, boasting an integrated C-shaped face to focus more mass towards the center for higher launch and consistent contact, while also sitting lower at address for greater confidence-inducing feel.

The RTX 6 comes in three finish options. Tour Satin provides a subtle, non-glare sheen that complements its classic address shape perfectly, featuring subtle branding and all-black paint fill. Black Satin wedges may also be personalized with custom sole grinds or leading edges at an additional charge; raw finishes allow their beautiful patinas to gradually reveal themselves over time.

Srixon Soft Feel Golf Balls

Srixon Soft Feel Golf Ball Set is ideal for players seeking premium performance at an accessible price point. Now in their 13th generation, they feature single layer thin cover designs in white and yellow variants for optimal play.

Golfers who struggle to get enough lift on their long irons and hybrids will appreciate the additional distance this ball provides. Plus, its strong spin makes for better play around greens.

This ball features a Rabalon HR+ and Pana-Tetra blended ionomer cover to reduce drag, leading to shorter flights. Furthermore, they boast 338 speed dimple pattern which increases spin on wedges and tee shots, helping improve accuracy and precision.

This ionomer cover also boasts low compression to aid with feel and distance, while its FastLayer core gradually gets firmer towards its outer edge for increased speed. This allows more compression of energy transfer for better speed performance.

This premium dimple pattern and low profile ball helps ensure more consistent play from all clubs. Both standard and XL versions are available to meet different swing speeds.

The Soft Feel performs admirably on all shots, yet is best used as a distance ball. It does not feature high side spin, preferable by many seasoned players; rather it aims at getting more distance out of every swing while reducing unintended long game sidespin. Amateurs without 110mph clubhead speed but looking to gain extra yards without compromising feel may benefit from using this ball as well.

Callaway Seven New Generations of Balls

Callaway upgrades its balls every two years, and this year is no different - for 2023 Callaway are offering upgrades to their ERC Soft Reva, Supersoft MAX Warbird and Reva balls - offering more distance or forgiveness in your irons with handy alignment lines and an innovative Hyper-Elastic SoftFast Core offering faster ball speeds without compromising feel around the green.

The ERC Soft is a three-piece model created to accommodate golfers of all skill levels. With lower driver spin than its Chrome Soft counterpart and increased mid-to-high spin through its bag for an all-around great performance. Plus, this hybrid cover adds extra wedge spin and durability!

ERC Soft Reva is specifically tailored to women players. The hybrid cover reduces spin for better wedge control and slightly higher launch, and there's even an enhanced Triple Track alignment mark with more pointed markings that aid with your putting alignment.

The Supersoft is a two-piece model created specifically to meet the needs of mid to high handicappers who desire more distance from their irons. Featuring a low-to-mid spin profile for maximum distance with long irons and wedges, as well as durable coating and an energy core to boost speed and improve consistency, it features low spin.

The Supersoft MAX is a 3% larger version of its predecessor and designed specifically to give golfers who rely on longer clubs more confidence when using longer clubs. Using similar technology as its counterpart, this ball comes in vibrant colors for easy identification. In contrast, Reva is an oversized ball designed specifically to meet Rules of Golf regulations while still providing distance, accuracy and consistency to ladies golfers looking for additional distance, accuracy and consistency in their play.

Mizuno CORTECH Chamber

Mizuno has long been recognized for producing quality drivers, fairway woods and hybrids but never managed to gain as much recognition as major players such as TaylorMade, Callaway or Ping. But this year they have upped their game by unveiling a variety of metalwoods to provide speed and stability to golfers of all abilities.

CORTECH Chamber, which houses a stainless steel weight in an elastomeric TPU casing, is one of the hallmarks of this new range. This innovative design relieves pressure off of the club face while providing additional sources of energy to generate faster ball speeds and reduce spin at impact. Additionally, moving closer to its centre of gravity also decreases spin for increased solid sensation at impact.

These 2023 metalwoods come in three driver options, one fairway wood, and a hybrid. The ST-Z 230 driver features a neutral bias with great stability on off centre hits; using its Forged SAT 2041 beta Ti face enhanced with CORTECH chamber technology to be faster across its entire face for an incredible solid feel at impact. Furthermore, its carbon sole plate has been redesigned as one piece to push weight toward extreme edges for maximum stability, while Quick Switch hosel provides four degrees of adjustability for ultimate flexibility!

The ST-X 230 fairway wood was developed under the guidance of multiple tour players, featuring plenty of adjustability to meet a wide variety of skill levels. It features a draw bias that was designed for fast ball speeds thanks to CORTECH chamber technology; further aided by Carbon composite crown's lower center of gravity that ensures reliable launch conditions.

Titleist Pro V1 & Pro V1x

Since Titleist first released their Pro V1 golf ball to the public in 2000, much has changed but their Massachusetts-based manufacturer's golf ball remains one of the best on the market.

Titleist has recently implemented updates to both their Pro V1 and its sister model, the Pro V1x models to increase consistency from tee to green. At the core of these modifications lies an innovative high-gradient core design.

Pro V1 and Pro V1x share the same high gradient inner core, but this year the company increased the center volume by 44% from one inch to 1.13". This change allows the inner core to more effectively neutralize excess spin that builds up during full shots while also contributing to maintaining soft cast urethane cover's control around greens.

Both models feature a speed-enhancing, low-drag casing layer designed to speed up play by reducing spin on long shots and maintaining stability through the air. Furthermore, its thinner urethane cover makes for greater clubface responsiveness while simultaneously increasing ball speed.

Titleist hopes some Pro V1 Left Dot users may switch over to these balls this season.

Ultimately, Titleist hopes that their higher trajectory and increased spin with irons and wedges of the Pro V1x can distinguish itself against current market offerings of "drop-and-stop" balls. Their goal is to deliver optimal distance, spin, and feel for every golfer. While Titleist recognizes it won't be easy, they remain confident they can meet this goal.
