Whichever MP20 range you go for you can guarentee you will not be founding wantng for that famous Mizuno feel. Each iron is Grain Flow HD forged from a single billet of 1025E mild carbon steel.

The head is then layered with a thin coating of copper, harking back to legendary Mizuno blades of the past like the TN87, MP29 etc. This extra layer of copper gives the golfer extra feel at impact which the ball strikers crave for.

Mizuno MP-20 MB Blades - Layers of History.. Layers of Feel

Heavily influenced by the legendary blades of Mizuno's past, the MP-20 is the ultimate Mizuno muscle back iron. At Japans famous Hiroshima plant each head is Grain Flow Forged HD from a single billet of 1025E Pure Select mild carbon steel. This is then covered by a thin coating of soft copper plating which is covered by a protective nickel chrome layer for legendary feel and feedback which harks back to revered Mizuno blades of the past like the TN-87 etc.

Despite Mizuno using Grain Flow Forging HD to tighten up the process and evolving CAD process to predict the vibration patterns, the feedback from players was that there was something missing compared to the feel of legendary irons in the past the TN-87 and MP-14 and the like. The only element that was missing from later irons was the thin copper layer. With that in mind at the Valspar a blind test was conducted by Mizuno the test pool used overwhelmingly preferred the prototype with copper plating.

Key Features:-

  • Layers of Feel - at Hiroshima Japan from a single billet of 1025E mild carbon steel each head is Grain Flow Forged HD, like the original layering from Mizuno's superb TN-87 blade it is then coved by thin a layer of copper and a protective nickel chrome cover

Chris Voshall, Mizuno Golf Brand Manager was quoted as saying

"A few years back it was a surprise to see truly elite tour players with more than one long iron replacement – but now that we’ve found their acceptance point on offset, size and proportions, there’s a new set who are open-minded to the #5 iron and beyond. We’re excited to see what happens they experiment with the HMB."

  • Complex Loft Specific Construction - the multi-thickness grain flow forged chromoly is tuned in to be consistently hot across the clubfaceface. In the long to mid irons 2 12g tungsten weights support stability and make it easy to launch the ball. The short irons feel soft and responsive as a result of the softer 1025E mild carbon steel used in their manufacture.
